My Story
I was not always a fitness coach. For most of my 20s, I was a software developer in Austin, Texas โ good salary, interesting work, completely sedentary lifestyle. I worked 10-hour days at a desk, ordered takeout four nights a week, and told myself I would start working out “next month” for three years straight.
By 27, I was 34 pounds overweight, getting winded climbing two flights of stairs, and genuinely miserable about it. I joined a gym twice and quit twice โ once after two weeks, once after one. The problem was not motivation. The problem was that gyms felt intimidating, expensive, and completely disconnected from my actual life.
The turning point came from a challenge from a college friend: 30 days of home workouts. No gym, no equipment beyond a ab roller and a yoga mat I already owned. I said yes mostly to shut him up. I lost 18 pounds in that first month. By month three, I was down 34 pounds, sleeping better, and more focused at work than I had been in years.
I became obsessed โ not with fitness trends or supplements, but with understanding the science of why it worked. I earned my NASM-CPT certification in 2017 while still working in tech, then my Nutrition Specialist credential in 2019. By 2020, I had transitioned to full-time coaching and had worked with over 200 clients โ mostly busy professionals and parents who, like me, could not build their lives around a gym schedule.
I founded Aura Fit Guide in 2022 with a simple goal: give everyone access to the same coaching advice my paying clients get โ for free. No gimmicks, no “detox teas,” no 6-minute abs promises. Just evidence-based fitness guidance that works in real life.

After working with 200+ clients, I have learned that fitness advice fails people for three reasons:
- It assumes you have unlimited time โ most people have 30-45 minutes, not 2 hours
- It ignores real life โ kids, stress, travel, desk jobs, bad sleep all affect what works
- It prioritizes complexity over consistency โ the best workout is the one you actually do
